Different energy sources refers the different ways we harness and utilize energy. They include renewable and non-renewable energy sources. The kind of energy source we select depends on a myriad of factors, including how it affects the environment and how easily accessible and affordable it is.

In 2018 fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal) comprised 80 percent of all energy produced in the world. These non-renewable energy sources can be harmful to the environment in many ways. For example drilling for oil can be devastating to wildlife and communities. Fracking causes pollution of water. Coal power plants emit CO2.

Renewable energy is also known as clean or green power. It is derived from resources that are constantly replenished like the sun wind, rain, and sun. It’s an excellent way to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and help the planet.

Renewable energy is not only about preserving the environment. It’s also about being reliable, cost-effective, and efficient. Renewable energy is becoming increasingly popular as a method to power our homes and businesses.

The most frequently used renewable energy sources are solar, wind hydropower, nuclear and solar. Solar energy is a process that converts sunlight into energy and warmth. Wind energy is used to generate electricity in many areas of the world. Hydropower harnesses the force of water to generate electricity. Nuclear energy produces electricity by using the process of nuclear fission.
